Graduate Admission
The University allows each of the departments to establish their application deadline. Applicants should go through the information given in the segment of the catalog and check with the department to which they are applying for other specific admission requirements.
Applicants must submit all of the following items directly to the Office of Graduate Studies before admission can be considered:
1. The applicant must pay $60 non-refundable application fee with the application form. Checks should be made A/c payable to name of University of Delaware. Applications received without the application fee will not be processed.
2. At least three letters of recommendation must submitted by Applicants and should be mailed collectively to the Office of Graduate Studies.
3. The (GRE) Graduate Record Examination admission test scores are required by most departments and some departments also require subject test scores. Applicants should request Education Testing Services (ETS) to report official test scores directly to the University of Delaware. The University of Delaware's institutional code for ETS is 5811. Applicants are encouraged to submit student copies of test scores in their application packets.
4. The official transcript of all the U.S. College records must be sent directly from the institute to the Office of Graduate Studies or be provided in a sealed envelope with the application packet. Students of the University of Delaware need not supply a transcript from Delaware.
5. An official transcript of all non-U.S. based college records is also been required. The transcript must list all the classes taken and grades earned. If the degree has not been awarded or the degree certificate has not been issued, evidence of the awarded degree must be provided prior to the first day of classes in the term of admission. While sending the transcripts consider following points in the mind: -
6. International student applicants must have a satisfactory level of proficiency in the English language even if English is not their first language. The Educational Testing Service is offered for (TOEFL) the Test of English as a Foreign Language in all the test centers throughout the world.
7. Application procedures are the same for senior citizens as for other applicants. The students above 60 years of age are liable to get some concession in the fees as per mentioned by the University.
8. The Delaware State Board of Health regulation and the University checks that whether the graduate students with a birth date after January 1, 1957, are immunized for measles, mumps and rubella (MMR). Also, students may be required to provide health report for Tuberculosis Screening Test within 6 months prior to beginning classes. Students should complete the Student Health Service Immunization Documentation form while admission.
